Vintage breakfast table
It's been a week of contrasts. Happiness over my daughters new house and sadness because my youngest uncle Peter passed away much too soon. He was one of the people who made my life brighter. He was kind and generous, a bon vivant, keen gardener, amazing cook and collector or art and porcelain. We could talk for hours. He always managed to put a smile on my face, even when he was very ill.
From the very beginning, somewhere in 2009, he followed my blog. Keeping in touch with his 'favourite niece', as he used to say:-) I will miss my 'favourite uncle' very much! I am fortunate to have so many happy memories: walking hand in hand with him (a hip teenager) as a toddler, listening to The Beatles, helping him out in his restaurant and drinking wine in a beautiful vineyard in Wahlwiller. I will cherish those memories forever.
A big hug to my aunt, who I wish lots of strength, to get her through this difficult time in her life.
On the photo's you can see how our breakfast table looked like on Christmas day. My uncle would have loved it. It really felt more like a spring table, with the pastel colours and floral china :-)
Wishing you all lots of Love, Happiness and Health for the new year ! I hope 2013 will be a good one!
